Sole 2024 is a semi-sweet white wine from the family-owned Płochocki Vineyard, created as a blend of seven white varieties from the loess hills of the Sandomierz region. Behind this label lies a field blend of the vineyard's white varieties: pinot blanc, Chardonnay, vidal blanc, Hibernal, souvignier gris, Seyval blanc and Riesling.
The vineyard lies in the village of Daromin, a dozen or so kilometres from Sandomierz. It is situated on the southern slope of a hill in the Sandomierz region, in a landscape full of loess ravines and gentle slopes; the soils are predominantly loess, well-draining, and such terroir gives character to the wines of this vineyard. The Płochocki family cultivate 7 hectares of vines planted with over 20 varieties, combining noble Vitis Vinifera cultivars with resistant varieties. The vineyard is run organically and holds an organic farming certificate.
The wine comes from the October 2024 harvest. Fermentation at the vineyard takes place in stainless steel tanks, which allows the freshness and natural character of the fruit to be preserved. The alcohol content is 12%, acidity 6.5 g/l, and residual sugar 20.1 g/l, which places the wine in the semi-sweet category.
On the nose the wine is intense. Set upon a creamy structure are above all notes of peach, pineapple, melon and apricot, with a touch of delicate honeyed accents and white flowers. The producer recommends it with Asian cuisine and spicy cheeses. Despite the 20 grams of residual sugar, which place it in the semi-sweet category, one cannot complain about any lack of balance.
