Turnau Solaris 2025 is a dry white single-varietal wine from the Turnau Vineyard in Baniewice, made from the Solaris grape. Solaris is a variety created with cooler climates in mind, being a cross between Riesling and Muscat Ottonel.
The vineyard lies in the south-western part of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. This region is shaped by air masses from the Atlantic Ocean and the Baltic Sea, as well as the proximity of the Oder River. All these factors create a climate characterised by a long growing season, warm summers and mild winters. Such conditions favour the cultivation of demanding grape varieties, allowing them to reach optimal ripeness while retaining high acidity. The vineyard is situated on a moraine hill, where sandy-loam and loamy soils predominate, of medium density and medium permeability.
The character of this vintage was determined by the course of the season. The winter of 2024/2025 was mild, with little snow cover. Spring was dry, and the lack of water at this stage did not favour the vines. In April a frost occurred that lasted over a week, with temperatures dropping to −6°C, which caused significant losses in the final yield. May was exceptionally cool, which did not favour vegetation. Flowering began in early June.
Regarding vinification, the producer states concisely: the wine matured on the lees for 3 months. Maintaining contact with the lees builds structure and depth, while retaining the fruity core typical of Solaris. The wine contains 9.5% alcohol.
In its aromatic profile, the Solaris from this vineyard reaches for orchard fruits and citrus accents. The Solaris wine from the Turnau Vineyard is characterised by aromas reminiscent of an orchard. It brings the scent of soft pear and juicy apple. There is no shortage of citrus accents here, and even a hint of banana. This is a table wine: it pairs well with fish, seafood and white meat dishes, and also works well as an aperitif.
