Old Pulteney 15 Years Old is a single malt Scotch from the Highlands, bottled at 46% ABV, whose hallmark is a two-stage maturation combining ex-bourbon casks with Spanish oak. The whisky comes from the Pulteney distillery in the Highland region, is matured for 15 years and bottled at 46% ABV.

The distillery is located in Wick, in the Pulteneytown district, at the north-eastern tip of Caithness. Pulteney Distillery lies in Wick's historic fishing quarter on the far north-eastern coast of Caithness, and its proximity to the North Sea exposes the maturing casks to salty sea air, imparting the distinctive coastal salinity that has become the distillery's signature. The producer also pays attention to the details of production: unusually shaped pot stills with exceptionally large boil balls yield a more aromatic spirit, while the use of worm tub condensers — an increasingly rare practice — adds body and depth to the whisky.

At the heart of this edition's style is double maturation. Second-fill American oak ex-bourbon casks contribute deep, dark spice, followed by a period of further maturation in first-fill Spanish oak casks, which deliver notes of dried fruit and chocolate. The Spanish casks are former oloroso vessels. The 15 Year Old edition matures first in second-fill American oak ex-bourbon casks and then undergoes a finishing period in first-fill Spanish oak ex-oloroso casks. The whisky is bottled at its natural strength of 46% and is not chill-filtered. Bottled at a natural 46% ABV, this edition delivers full intensity without chill filtration, which would compromise the texture.

In the glass the whisky shows an amber colour. It is full of ripe dried fruit, ripe apples and citrus, with the sweetness of honey and a rounded note of creamy vanilla, lightly chocolatey and floral in the background. On the palate and in the finish the profile shifts towards spice and dark sweetness. Aromatic spices and Christmas cake emerge, with layers of chocolate and a pronounced dark toffee sweetness, and in the finish a trace of salty sea air – a clear nod to the sea's influence on this single malt. The edition has collected a string of industry awards: Double Gold at the World Spirits Competition (2024 and 2022), Gold at the World Whiskies Awards (2024), Double Gold at the International Spirits Challenge, Silver at the IWSC (2025 and 2023) and Silver at the World Spirits Competition (2023).
