Blanton's is a bourbon bottled from a single, specially selected barrel (single barrel), produced at the Buffalo Trace distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. The brand bears the name of Colonel Albert B. Blanton, who was convinced that the best distillates come from the central part of Warehouse H. History of Blanton's Colonel Albert B. Blanton personally selected barrels from the central part of Warehouse H for years, tested their contents, and bottled them individually — but exclusively privately, for ambassadors, dignitaries, family, and friends. In 1984, master distiller Elmer T. Lee, inspired by this tradition, created the first commercial single barrel bourbon brand in honor of Blanton. The same selection principles apply to this day — each barrel comes from Warehouse H, and its contents are evaluated by a group of testers who decide whether the bourbon is ready for bottling. How Blanton's is Made Barrels are emptied by hand, and each bottle is individually labeled — with the bottling date, barrel and bottle number, warehouse name, and rack number. The label intentionally does not include age information because the producer focuses on taste and aroma, not the number of years in the barrel. The average age of the distillate is approximately 6–8 years. Each bottle is sealed with a cork featuring a miniature of a jockey on a horse — a reference to Kentucky, famous for its horse breeding and racing. There are eight versions of the miniatures that together spell out "Blanton's," with each showing the jockey in a different position. Blanton's in Pop Culture Blanton's has appeared in many American film and television productions, including the series "Desperate Housewives," "NCIS," and "True Blood."
