Yamazakura is a Japanese Blended Malt whisky from the Sasanokawa Shuzo distillery, presented in a gift carton and bottled at 43% ABV. The name combines two Japanese words: "Yama", meaning mountain, and "Sakura", referring to the cherry blossom.

Behind the brand stands Sasanokawa Shuzo of Koriyama in Fukushima Prefecture, on the main island of Honshu. Sasanokawa Shuzo, the oldest sake producer in Japan's Tohoku region, obtained its whisky production licence in 1946, after the Second World War. With over 250 years of history as a sake brewery, the company continued to release products in the Yamazakura range, and in 2016 launched the Asaka distillery as a project marking the 250th anniversary of its founding. It is the spirits from Asaka that form the core of the brand's contemporary editions.

The sensory profile of this blend is built on a balance of malt, fruit and a delicate note of smoke. On the nose, sweet caramel with fresh green apples, tropical fruits such as banana and a hint of cherry pie; on the palate, distinct sherry tones together with creamy vanilla and nuts; on the finish, subtle peat that emerges towards the end. It is a balanced combination of malts with a round, well-rounded character. The whisky is bottled without colouring and without chill filtration. This is a whisky of natural colour, non-chill filtered.
