Laufhund Bitter is a Polish sweet-and-bitter herbal liqueur, a so-called "ziołówka", with an ABV of 35%, produced by the AWW Group of Kalisz. It is based on a multi-ingredient, closely guarded recipe, and owes its flavour qualities to a composition of as many as 45 herbs, spices, aromas and alcoholic extracts.
Production is handled by a renowned Polish manufacturer of vodkas, cordials and spirit. The producer belongs to the small group of industry players who own their own grain crops and components for alcohol production; the AWW Group has processing plants, laboratories, distilleries and its own transport fleet. Extensive technological facilities make it possible to carry out multiple rectification and distillation processes in-house, which — combined with carefully selected ingredients — defines the product's profile.
Herbal notes lead on the nose. The aroma reveals tea, a hint of mint, sage, walnuts, even almonds, as well as cloves and orange. On the palate the drink becomes even nuttier, with discernible notes of mint, but also rhubarb, hawthorn, bitter oranges and ginger. The finish brings autumnal notes — leaves, mainly cherry, dried apples and prunes.
The way it is served highlights the liqueur's herbal-and-spice character. It tastes excellent chilled, with a slice of orange, or in cocktails. It can be mixed with tonic, lemonade, apple juice or cola, or served as shots.
The product has an established position on the domestic market. The awarded "Doceń polskie TOP PRODUKT" (Appreciate Polish Products TOP PRODUCT) emblem confirms that Laufhund Bitter meets the programme's quality criteria and maintains a level that allows it to stand out among the products assessed by the experts.
