Jose Cuervo Especial Silver is a classic blanco-style tequila from the Mexican state of Jalisco, bottled without ageing and boasting a crystal-clear appearance. This young, unaged variety is distinguished by its clear colour and fresh character. The European version is bottled at 35% ABV.

Behind the product stands Casa Cuervo, from the La Rojeña distillery in the town of Tequila. Jose Cuervo is produced at the La Rojeña distillery in the state of Jalisco, Mexico; the facility was officially founded in 1812 and is the oldest working distillery in Latin America. In 1795, José María Guadalupe de Cuervo began selling the first Vino Mezcal de Tequila de Jose Cuervo after receiving from the King of Spain the first official licence for the commercial production of tequila.

The raw material is blue Weber agave sourced from the Tequila region. The family company has been producing spirits from blue Weber agave grown around Tequila since 1795. Silver is a double-distilled tequila. Especial Silver is an unaged white tequila made from blue agave, double-distilled in a continuous column still. In the 35% version it is a mixto-style tequila. Jose Cuervo Especial Silver is what is known as a mixto tequila, meaning that alongside agave juice, other sugar compounds are also used in the fermentation process.

Freshness and agave dominate its aromatic profile. On the nose it is fresh, with notes of citrus, a light agave spiciness and subtle pepper; on the palate it is mellow and balanced, with a combination of agave, light herbs and a hint of lime, while the finish is short to medium, clean and slightly spicy. Its flavour profile is crisp and clean, with subtle agave notes.

It is reached for above all as a cocktail base. Jose Cuervo Especial Silver is the base for classic tequila cocktails such as the Margarita, Tequila Sunrise or Paloma; it is also served as a shot with salt and lime. At the table, Mexican cuisine is the perfect match. Gastronomically it pairs with Mexican dishes such as tacos, ceviche or grilled chicken with lime and coriander.
