Jose Cuervo Platino is an unaged blanco tequila from the Reserva de la Familia line, produced in Mexico exclusively from blue Weber agave. It belongs to the brand's highest, ultra-premium series – a collection of craft, small-batch tequilas created according to traditional, entirely hand-crafted production methods.
The recipe is deliberately minimalist. This is a bright, unaged tequila made from just three ingredients: 100% organic blue Weber agave, yeast and water. The producer emphasises that it contains no additives, and it is bottled at 40% ABV. A distinctive element of the process is the Esencia de Agave method: a technique refined over some 200 years, which allows the agave notes to retain their original character, intense aroma and flavour. The full production designation is given by the number NOM 1122, and the spirit owes its clarity in part to cold filtration.
Aromatically, the tequila leads with agave and spice. The nose reveals pepper, sweet, honeyed agave alongside parsley and honey, apple toffee and nutmeg, with a touch of charcoal. On the palate the profile is sweet and spicy: this 100% organic blue Weber agave tequila has a sweet-spicy palate with notes of melon, honey and hay. The finish closes with a characteristic herbal-spicy accent – medium, with shades of chamomile and cinnamon.
The raw material base consists of fully ripe piñas, the hearts of the agave plants. Although it is a blanco, the tequila rests for 60 days in stainless steel before bottling – a practice found with more expensive white distillates. Its rounded texture and clean, dry structure mean the producer recommends serving it over ice; it also works well as a cocktail base, for example in a Paloma or a Margarita.
