Johnnie Walker King George V is a blended Scotch whisky created to commemorate the first Royal Warrant granted to John Walker & Sons. John Walker & Sons received its first Royal Warrant in 1934 from King George V, and this elegant blend was made from hand-selected whiskies from that era.

The concept behind the blend draws on the brand's archives. King George V commemorates the monarch who granted the brand its Royal Warrant in 1934, and its creators delved into the archives to hand-select whiskies from distilleries that existed during his reign. The components include malt distillates from Cardhu and Royal Lochnagar, as well as very old grain whiskies. The most distinctive element, however, is Port Ellen. The blend contains Port Ellen, a highly prized malt whisky whose distillery no longer exists. These components come from distilleries operating during the monarch's reign, and the blend is bottled at 43%.

In its aromatic profile, the smoky notes of Port Ellen intertwine with a pronounced sweetness. The whisky was blended from malts produced at distilleries operating during the reign of King George V between 1910 and 1936, with Port Ellen among them; the nose is peatier and spicier than standard Blue Label, yet also carries notes of vanilla cream, while the palate is smoky and creamy at once, with classic Islay notes of tar and creosote balanced by vanilla and a touch of lemon zest. The palate reveals ripe fruit, dark chocolate, toffee and roasted nuts, with coastal smokiness building through a long, warm finish.

King George V belongs to the John Walker & Sons Exclusive Blends series. The whisky forms part of the John Walker & Sons Exclusive Blends, alongside such expressions as Odyssey, The John Walker and the annual Private Collection. Its collectible status is determined above all by Port Ellen – a distillery closed in 1983, whose stocks are finite, making this blend in its current form truly unrepeatable. The 0.7 l bottle is intended to be enjoyed neat, slowly, with cool water served separately.
