Elijah Craig Small Batch is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon from the Heaven Hill distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky, bottled at 47%. It is made from Heaven Hill's standard mash bill (known internally as HH Reg), consisting of 78% corn, 10% rye and 12% malted barley. The corn-driven core of the blend translates into a softer, sweeter profile than that of bourbons with a higher rye content.

The brand is named after Reverend Elijah Craig, a bourbon pioneer credited with being the first distiller to age whiskey in charred oak barrels. Long before the term "small batch" even existed, master distillers were hand-selecting the right number of barrels to create Elijah Craig. The Small Batch expression originally appeared in 1986 with a twelve-year age statement. In early 2016, Heaven Hill announced it was dropping the age statement from the label and moving to a composition of eight- to twelve-year-old bourbon in order to stretch its stocks.

The spirit matures in new American oak barrels with a level three char. Each batch is composed of hand-selected barrels aged from eight to twelve years. Small batch, as Heaven Hill defines it, means using no more than 250 barrels.

The nose is dominated by notes of vanilla, caramel, nuts and oak. Vanilla, caramel, nut and oak appear from the very first moment. Initially sweet and light, these flavours intensify somewhat with time spent in the glass. The palate reveals the sweetness of simple syrup, caramel, barrel char, oak and gentle cherry, while the finish brings a moderate white pepper spiciness that builds and lingers – fairly long, with notes of char and oak. For its strength, this is a bourbon with a rather full structure.
