Cutty Sark is one of the most popular blended whisky brands in the world, introduced to the market in 1923. Its light and refreshing character is created by a special composition of the finest single malt whiskies and top-quality single grain whiskies. The foundation of the blend consists of malt whiskies from the Glenrothes distillery operating in Speyside, which impart a fruity-vanilla character. Maturation takes place mainly in American oak casks, but first-fill sherry casks are also used. Cutty Sark is a whisky with universal applications. It can be enjoyed neat, over ice cubes on a hot summer day, and it also works excellently in various mixes and cocktails. The aroma is very approachable, delicate and enticing, with notes of vanilla, honey, orchard fruits, hay and dried fruits. On the palate it is fresh, smooth and balanced, with clearly perceptible sweet, creamy vanilla, buttery-grainy biscuits, notes of oak and honey. The whisky's name comes from the world's fastest tea clipper. The Cutty Sark sailing ship was built in 1869 in Scotland and was used to transport tea from China. It was regarded as the most beautiful and fastest clipper of its time.
