Chopin Potato Vodka in the pink bottle is a Polish potato vodka from the distillery in Siedlce, released as a limited edition featuring a pink ribbon motif. Chopin, a craft distillery from Poland, released a special bottle dedicated to breast cancer awareness, and from the proceeds of the Pink Ribbon edition the brand donated funds to support research into the disease.
The foundation is the brand's flagship vodka. Chopin is a single-ingredient vodka, distilled four times from potatoes, rye or wheat, produced by the distiller from Siedlce – Podlaska Wytwórnia Wódek Polmos. In this expression, potatoes are the sole raw material. The brand works with local farmers, sourcing various potato varieties, which are then washed, cooked and mashed, before being fermented and finally distilled. Founder Tadeusz Dorda and his team preserved one relic from the plant's past: a copper distillation column built in 1896, one of the oldest surviving distillation apparatuses in Poland, and every drop of Chopin is distilled four times on this column, then rests in stainless steel, where it mellows and develops flavour.
In the sensory profile of this edition, the nose opens with a subtle note of green apple and vanilla, the palate is creamy and earthy, and the finish is long and clean. This corresponds to the character of the entire potato line: Chopin Potato Vodka has a distinctly earthy, full flavour profile. The strength is 40%, and the bottle has a capacity of 1 litre.
The vodka works well as a cocktail base and as a sipping vodka to be tasted neat. Its creamy and full flavour profile makes it a vodka good in its own right, to be served straight as well as in martinis and cocktails. The brand is compared to a family-run estate winery, where control over the product lasts from the moment the potato is harvested right through to bottling.
