Auchentoshan American Oak is a Single Malt from Scotland's Lowlands region, bottled at 40% ABV — a light, mellow whisky with a distinctly fruity, vanilla-driven character. American Oak was introduced in 2014 to replace the Classic expression.

The Auchentoshan distillery lies in the Scottish Lowlands and stands out for its distinctive production method. From the Auchentoshan distillery in the Scottish Lowlands comes a triple-distilled single malt Scotch whisky matured entirely in first-fill American oak casks — a light, pale whisky with plenty of vanilla sweetness at its core. The raw material is malted barley, and triple distillation gives the spirit a lighter, more delicate profile than is typical of most Scotch whiskies.

Maturation takes place exclusively in American bourbon casks. American Oak is the first release from this Lowland distillery matured solely in first-fill bourbon barrels. It is precisely these casks that shape the dram's sweet, vanilla-laden and fruity character.

The aroma and flavour profile is dominated by notes of vanilla, coconut and citrus. A lively whisky with vanilla custard, coconut and white peach; a crisp finish with candied grapefruit and a lingering hint of spice. Critics round out the picture with further detail: an initial note of rose water, then Madeira, vanilla, developing musky peaches and icing sugar; on the palate, zesty fresh fruit, chilli notes and more Madeira and vanilla.

This is a versatile whisky that can be served in several ways. It works splendidly over ice with a citrus twist. Its mellow, approachable profile makes it a good candidate for an aperitif, and its citrus freshness also suits simple cocktails.
