Absolut Grapefruit is a flavoured vodka based on Swedish Absolut vodka, built around the natural aroma of pink grapefruit. It is a vodka with a fresh, fruity character, with distinct notes of pink grapefruit and balanced sweetness. It is bottled at 40% ABV.
The product is made in southern Sweden, in the same tradition that stands behind the entire Absolut range. Absolut Grapefruit is produced and bottled in the small town of Åhus in southern Sweden. The vodka is created at the same facilities Absolut has used for over a century, employing the continuous distillation method introduced by founder Lars Olsson Smith in 1879, with 100% winter wheat from local farms as the raw material and naturally filtered water drawn from deep wells.
The flavour profile is built on citrus with no added sugar. Absolut Grapefruit is made with natural grapefruit flavour and contains no added sugar – it has a fresh, fruity taste with a distinct pink grapefruit character and balanced natural sweetness. A 2019 Wine Enthusiast review describes it more soberly: clear in the glass, with a grapefruit aroma capturing the essence of the fruit and its peel, while the palate is a paler echo of the aroma, slightly bitter with a hint of citrus, finishing crisp and refreshing.
Absolut Grapefruit is above all a base for serves paired with tonic and citrus. It is a grapefruit-flavoured vodka that brings the distinctive taste of pink grapefruit to drinks – citrusy, delicately sweet and versatile. It works well in the Swedish take on the Paloma – a vodka version of the Mexican classic, where it is combined with red grapefruit juice and fresh lime juice, topped up with soda water and finished with a salted rim and a grapefruit wedge.
