1800 Tequila Blanco is an unaged tequila blanco from Jalisco, Mexico, made entirely from Weber blue agave. The brand belongs to the Beckmann family, who also own Jose Cuervo, and the name refers to the year the producer associates with the origins of its recipe.
The foundation is a single-variety raw material. 1800 Blanco is double distilled and made from just three ingredients – 100% Weber blue agave, yeast and water. The agave hearts, known as piñas, are harvested by hand by jimadores in the Tequila valley in Jalisco. The spirit undergoes double distillation in copper pot stills, which purifies the distillate and concentrates the agave character. The producer states that the tequila contains no additives.
The aromatic profile is dominated by agave supported by a note of pepper and fruit. It is crystal clear with blond highlights, and the aroma is described as soft, sweetish and floral, with fruit, spice, black pepper and agave notes; the taste is silky, clean and balanced, with accents of sweet prune and roasted pepper. The finish is medium in length, with a peppery-fruity resonance.
Forbes' editorial analysis describes the standard Blanco version as a benchmark for the higher-proof variant. The nose reveals freshly roasted agave, distinct citrus – especially lime zest – and floral-potpourri notes, while the peppery accents lean more towards white than black pepper.
This is a tequila built around agave and citrus freshness, drunk neat, on the rocks and as a base for cocktails such as the margarita or paloma. Bottled at 38% ABV.
