Casas Patronales

Casas Patronales are Chilean wines from the Maule Valley, produced by the Castro family – experienced growers specializing in viticulture. The brand was established in 1994 and offers wines made from hand-picked grapes, aged in American and French oak barrels.

History of Casas Patronales – from grape plantation to own brand

The Castro family has been engaged in viticulture for generations on a 300-hectare estate near San Clemente in the Maule Valley. For many years, the farm supplied grapes to other producers – among others, such renowned Chilean producers as Concha y Toro and Viña San Pedro used them.

In 1994, Juan Pablo Castro, who currently manages the winery, decided together with partners to create their own brand. This is how Casas Patronales was born – wines produced from grapes sourced from the best plots of the farm.

Maule Valley and the San Clemente area – climate and vineyards

The estate is located in the San Clemente area, which is known for its favorable microclimate conducive to viticulture. The Maule Valley is one of the largest and most important wine regions in Chile – warm days and cool nights allow the grapes to ripen slowly, retaining intensity of aromas.

All varieties are harvested exclusively by hand – the harvest begins in early April and lasts no longer than mid-May.

Production of Casas Patronales wines

The quality of the wines is overseen by a team of young oenologists. The winery has a modern production line with stainless steel tanks with a total capacity of 2,600,000 liters and cellars equipped with American and French oak barrels, in which reserva-class wines are aged.
