Cadenhead Whisky at M&P Stores – Masterclass Tastings and Training with Sophia McLean
In June, we hosted Sophia McLean – a representative of Wm Cadenhead Ltd, the oldest independent bottler in Scotland. Sophia is responsible for the brand's export sales and knows Cadenhead's whisky inside out. At our place, she led a training session for our team as well as masterclass tastings for customers at the Whisky & Cognac Club in Wesoła and at the M&P showroom in Kraków.

Who is behind the Cadenhead's brand?

Cadenhead's has been operating continuously since 1842, and it is precisely this longevity that earns it the title of the oldest independent bottler in Scotland. The company began in Aberdeen, and since 1972 its headquarters has been located in Campbeltown – one of the most highly regarded whisky regions. Today the brand belongs to the family-owned company J&A Mitchell & Co., owner of the famous Springbank distillery.

And what exactly is an independent bottler? It is a company that does not distil itself. It selects casks from various distilleries and bottles them under its own brand. Thanks to this, in a single portfolio you will find spirits from many corners of Scotland – often in releases that the distillery itself does not put out.

What sets Cadenhead's whisky apart?

The brand's philosophy fits into a single sentence: as little interference as possible. Cadenhead's bottles without chill filtration and without colouring, usually from single casks or small batches, often at natural cask strength (cask strength). Why? So that the pure character of the distillate remains in the glass.

This is where the limited, collector's releases come from, eagerly awaited by whisky lovers around the world. And beyond single malts, the brand also bottles rum, gin and cognac.

Training for the team and masterclass tastings for customers

The visit had two dimensions. First, Sophia led a training session for our team. She served us a portion of solid knowledge that we will use in our shops to select spirits even more precisely to suit your needs.

Then it was time for the customers. The masterclass tastings took place in our Whisky & Cognac Club in Wesoła and in the M&P shop in Kraków.
