Smirnoff Lime is a flavoured vodka from the brand owned by the Diageo group, created by combining the classic Smirnoff base with natural lime flavour. This version is bottled at 37.5% ABV.
At its foundation lies the recognisable Smirnoff No. 21 distillate. The vodka is filtered ten times and distilled three times. Smirnoff Lime is made by adding natural lime flavour to vodka distilled from a blend of grains and then filtered ten times through seven columns of charcoal. This multi-stage process yields a clean, neutral distillate that provides the backdrop for the citrus flavouring.
Lime dominates the profile. The nose opens with fresh lime zest, with a subtle hint of citrus pith and a clean, neutral grain background – it reads bright and direct, like freshly squeezed lime juice. On the palate, the entry brings tart lime without excessive sweetness, the mid-palate broadens with a slightly tangy citrus note balanced by the smooth, mineral base distillate, and at its peak the lime aroma remains vivid and focused, without veering towards candied sweetness. The finish is short to medium, crisp and dry, with lingering tartness of lime zest and a delicate grain sweetness right at the end, leaving the palate refreshed rather than coated.
The character of this vodka makes it above all suited to cocktails. In a Moscow Mule, the citrus base reinforces the signature lime accent, marrying with ginger beer and fresh lime; in a Vodka Gimlet, the tart, clean profile harmonises with sugar syrup and lime juice; in a Lime Rickey, built with soda water and a dash of grenadine, the vodka's bright acidity keeps the drink light and balanced.
