Śliwowica Podbeskidzka Sadownicza is a Polish plum eau-de-vie with an ABV of 50%, produced by Toorank Polska. Śliwowica Podbeskidzka is made under the name of Toorank Polska of Jasienica, near Bielsko-Biała. Toorank Polska S.A. has been operating on the Polish market since 1996, specialising in the production of high-quality products intended for a narrow circle of connoisseurs, as well as products for small communities in micro-regions.
Śliwowica is a plum distillate of Slavic origin, produced in Central and Eastern Europe and on the Balkan Peninsula. Śliwowica Podbeskidzka is made exclusively from natural, specially selected ingredients, crystal-clear water and the finest quality fruit. It is produced according to a meticulous traditional method that demands both time and dedication.
The heart of the process is fermentation and distillation, while the spirit acquires its character in wood. The distillate obtained through the alcoholic fermentation and distillation of plums is aged in 225-litre oak barrels. This ageing is responsible for the colour and the depth of aroma. The amber hue is achieved thanks to sufficiently long maturation in special barrels.
Plum dominates the profile. Taste and aroma: dry, characteristic of a plum distillate. The 50% version is milder than its 72% counterpart from the same range by the producer.
The producer himself suggests how best to serve it. Śliwowica should be savoured – sipped slowly in small measures, preferably from tasting glasses. Given its high alcohol content, it can also be enjoyed in a gentler form: following the well-known highlander recipe, as an addition to tea.
