Salitos Tequila Gold is a Mexican tequila from the state of Jalisco, made from Weber blue agave and coloured with caramel, which gives it a golden-yellow hue. Master of Malt classifies it as a Joven-style tequila.
The brand belongs to the German group MBG International Premium Brands of Paderborn, best known for the flavoured beer Salitos with a dash of tequila. The original tequila from the first recipe of the Salitos flavoured beer has been available in gold and silver versions since the summer of 2019. The raw material is blue agave from Jalisco. The spirit is created through a slow, open fermentation process using agaves matured for eight years.
The production method combines traditional and modern elements. This Salitos variant undergoes double distillation, after which it is transferred to casks to rest. The gold version has a particularly golden-yellow colour, which results from refinement with caramel.
The flavour profile brings together notes derived from the agave and from brief contact with wood. The tequila takes on buttery, ripe notes alongside fresh, grassy accents from the Weber blue agave. A broader sensory description reveals a note of caramel and freshly cut grass, with citrus blossom, toasted oak, dried herbs, white chocolate and pepper. The spirit is bottled at 38% ABV. The ornate illustrations on the label draw inspiration from the Día de Muertos festival.
