Calisia Okowita 3YO is a Polish grain spirit from the Wawrzyniak family's craft distillery near Kalisz, matured for three years in wine casks and bottled at 40% ABV. This is the younger expression in the Calisia okowita range, with a lighter profile than the longer-aged versions.
Behind the brand stands Grupa AWW, a company built by Wiesław Wawrzyniak. It all began with an alcohol wholesale business launched in 1991; seven years later the company started producing its own spirit, and in 2009 it began bottling vodkas and cordials at its factory in Kalisz. The group's key plant operates in Zbiersk, in a facility with a history dating back to the 19th century.
The base of this okowita is a grain distillate. The three-year-old Calisia is aged for three years in wine casks, combining the freshness and natural aromas of grain with the subtle influence of oak maturation. The producer emphasises that it is made in limited batches, with every bottle individually numbered.
The sensory profile is dominated by a grainy character tempered by a light cask influence. The spirit stands out for its light character and harmonious flavour. The nose offers fresh grain and delicate fruity notes, the palate is gentle and slightly malty, and the finish is short and pleasantly grainy.
The quality of this expression has been confirmed by independent judging. At the 8th Warsaw Spirits Competition 2025, the Calisia grain okowita aged over fifteen years won a Double Gold medal, while its three-year-old version took silver.
