MAC-TALLA is a range of single malt whiskies originating from undisclosed distilleries on the Isle of Islay. The whisky is bottled by Morrison, a company belonging to one of the oldest whisky-producing families in Scotland. The Morrison family, which in the past owned the Bowmore distillery for four generations, plays a significant role on the Isle of Islay. Drawing on their status and excellent connections, over the years they have amassed thousands of casks of Scotch whisky in their warehouses, a large portion of which are peated whiskies from Islay. The name of the MAC-TALLA range, meaning "echo" in Gaelic, perfectly reflects the bond linking the Morrison family with the Isle of Islay. This range is also, in a way, an invitation to a flavour journey across the entire island. Tasting the individual whiskies, we discover the depth and diversity offered by the Isle of Islay, considered by many to be the ideal environment for whisky production.
MAC-TALLA Terra means "earth" and refers to the soil of the Isle of Islay, to which the whisky owes its peaty aroma. The secret of the characteristic smoky note of Islay whisky lies beneath its surface. Thanks to the influences of land and sea, Terra whisky offers a flavour that is at once smoky and fresh. The whisky was aged in American oak casks. It has been bottled in its natural colour, without cold filtration, at 46% strength. On the nose we find notes of citrus, smoked barley malt and fresh, salty sea air. On the palate distinct wood smoke, a salty sea breeze and a crisp, smoky finish.
