Kruk Wiś-Nowy is a Polish fruit liqueur from the Kravt manufactory, built around cherry, cranberry and chokeberry, with an ABV of 31.8%. The producer describes it as an intensely cherry liqueur, based on ultra-pure potato spirit.
The drink is created in the small Kravt & Co. manufactory, associated with the palace in Nakomiady in Masuria. It is made from ultra-pure, single-origin Polish potato spirit, truly artisanal, produced in limited, small quantities. The label is applied by hand, each bottle is hand-numbered and bears the production date, while the quality is guaranteed by the brand owners with their own signatures.
Cherry leads the flavour profile. The liqueur has an intense aroma of cherry stone and evokes memories of juicy, slightly tart cherries; cranberry enriches their flavour, while the astringency of chokeberry brings a surprising finish. The composition is distinctly drier than the category would suggest – the cherry is exceptionally true to life, slightly tangy thanks to the cranberry, without unnecessary over-sweetening, while the chokeberry lends a tannic astringency perceptible on the finish.
The producer suggests several ways of serving. The creators drink Wiś-Nowy from a heavy glass tumbler, lightly chilled or with one or two ice cubes; it also works well combined with soda water, tonic or – for a more summery take – with prosecco.
