Johnnie Walker Red Soul is a blended Scotch whisky introduced by Diageo in March 2026 as a sweeter and smoother variation on the classic Red Label. Red Soul is the first global innovation within the Johnnie Walker Red Label line. It is bottled at 40% ABV.
The blend was created by Emma Walker, Johnnie Walker's Master Blender. The whisky is composed from the same reserves of maturing casks as Red Label. The Johnnie Walker Red Soul recipe draws primarily on whiskies matured in ex-bourbon casks, while the classic smoky notes of Red Label have been removed. This approach is intended to bring the flavours derived from maturation to the fore. Compared with the spicier, smokier and more distillery-character-driven style of Red Label, Red Soul showcases sweeter and smoother traits without smoky notes.
The profile is built around sweetness. A bright vanilla sweetness develops into toffee and soft oak notes with a gentle spice, closing with a smooth, creamy finish. According to the producer's description, the whisky also carries notes of red apple.
Red Soul was conceived as a whisky for longer and lighter serves. The occasions it targets are spontaneous afternoon and early-evening moments with friends, as well as longer, lighter-drinking serves, such as simple mixed drinks – for example Johnnie Walker Red Soul with lemonade. The brand recommends the signature serve of Johnnie Walker Red Soul with lemonade, a pinch of sea salt and a strawberry garnish.
