Glenmorangie The Cadboll Estate is a 15-year-old single malt whisky from the Highlands, distinguished by the fact that it is made entirely from barley grown on the distillery's own fields. It is the first single estate whisky in Glenmorangie's history – a "grain to glass" concept in which the raw material comes exclusively from the fields surrounding the plant in Tain.
Cadboll barley grows on the estate's fields around the distillery. Glenmorangie is a coastal distillery, which means the crops are protected from the harsh inland frosts and weather extremes, in almost their own microclimate. For this reason every harvest is different and brings subtle flavour variations to successive batches. The spirit is distilled in the tallest stills in Scotland – their copper necks reach 5.14 metres, so that only the lightest and purest vapours make it to the top, which translates into a lighter, more elegant distillate.
The whisky matures for 15 years. Editions aged exclusively in first-fill American bourbon casks (including the 2020 and 2021 batches) showcase the estate-grown barley without any additional finishing in other casks. The profile from years of ageing in American oak reveals creamy vanilla, honeyed sponge cake, citrus, and notes of orchard fruit and nuts. Whisky Advocate describes the 43% version as having a buttery nose with creamy vanilla, honeycomb, flowers and delicate pear, and on the palate dried fruit, vanilla, apricot, candied lemon, juicy pear and cantaloupe, with accents of green banana and eucalyptus.
Bottled at 43% ABV. Medium-full in structure, with a slightly oily, rounded texture and a medium-length finish in which the fruit and spice notes fade evenly. This is a single malt with a light, creamy and fruity character, typical of distillation in Glenmorangie's tall stills.
