Contadora Island lies in the Pacific Ocean, in the Gulf of Panama, in the Pearl Islands archipelago, and belongs to the province of Panama. Its area is just under 1.5 km². It was discovered at the beginning of the 16th century and for a long time served as a refuge for pirates, who divided their loot here. It is an exceptional place with crystal-clear water, beautiful white-sand beaches and rich tropical fauna – both on land and in the sea.
Contadora rum is just as extraordinary as the island whose name it bears. It comes from the Bodegas de América S.A. distillery in Panama, and its bottles are adorned with images of the animals inhabiting the island. It is made from cane molasses in a column still and then matured in ex-bourbon barrels.
