Republica Reserva Dark is a dark, blended-style rum created as a blend of carefully selected Caribbean rums. The Republica brand belongs to the Stock group, and the spirit itself is produced at the Czech distillery Stock Plzeň (Božkov). On the Polish market it is bottled at 38% ABV.
The base of this rum is sugar cane molasses, and the blend brings together distillates from six Caribbean sources. It consists of rums from Nicaragua, Barbados, the Dominican Republic, Trinidad, Guyana and Jamaica, some of which mature in oak casks for up to 12 years. It is precisely this selection and long ageing that give it a deep, dark amber colour with coppery reflections.
On the nose, the rum presents a sweet, woody-smoky character with distinct notes of oak, cinnamon and vanilla, with prunes, caramel and cocoa in the background. On the palate it is sweetish and slightly sharp, with accents of sugar cane, figs and delicate woody tones. The style is distinctly sweet, smooth and approachable, with a long, sweetened finish.
It is best served neat, at room temperature or over an ice cube, when you want to bring out its sweet, caramel-vanilla profile. Thanks to its approachable and mellow character, it also makes a rewarding base for simple cocktails and long drinks. This is a bottle for those who appreciate sweet, soft rums without a high price tag.
