In the first half of June we organised 9 tastings in 7 stores and hosted 165 people. Italy took up the most space, but the glasses also held wines from Spain, Germany and South Africa.
At the M&P Gdańsk Rajska store we devoted an evening to the wines of Fontanafredda. We started with a white Gavi and a Chardonnay from Langhe, and finished with a 2018 Barolo and a dessert Barolo Chinato. Along the way there was room for the less commonly encountered Grignolino.
We tasted Paco & Lola wines in two M&P stores. At the M&P Gdańsk Rajska store we showed a broad cross-section of the range, including the sparkling Espumoso and a non-alcoholic version – what surprised guests the most was how different wines from the same grape variety can be, and the distinct salinity of Spanish Albariño. At the M&P Wielicka store, in turn, we held a tasting at the barrel in a speedtasting format, where alongside Albariño stood Godello and a red from Mencía.
At the M&P Wrocław Piękna store we lined up sparkling wines produced by different methods. The most interesting turned out to be the comparison of prosecco with the Spanish Corpinnat, and guests chose the South African Cap Classique Kleine Zalze as the wine of the evening. The rosé Moscato d'Asti was received most warmly.
At the M&P Ursynów Rosoła store we placed side by side the Sicilian wines of Tasca d'Almerita and Tenute Orestiadi – whites from Grillo and Catarratto as well as Etna Bianco and Etna Rosso from the volcanic slopes. At the participants' request we additionally opened a second Etna Bianco, to compare two styles of the same appellation.
At the M&P Marina Mokotów store we tasted Weinbiet wines from the German Palatinate: a dry Riesling, Kerner and Gewürztraminer. The Weissburgunder gathered the most votes – it was the one guests most often named as their favourite wine of the evening.
At the M&P Zielonka Marecka store we held a blind tasting, during which the assessment of the wines was decided solely by the contents of the glass.
The first half of June also brought visits from brand representatives, accompanied by masterclass tastings and training sessions for our team. We hosted Enrico Bison, ambassador of Fontanafredda, and Sophia McLean from Cadenhead's. We devoted separate articles to both visits – we invite you to read the report from the visit of the Fontanafredda brand ambassador and from the meetings around Cadenhead's whisky.
Curious about what we have in store next? You'll find the upcoming dates in our events calendar – see you in the stores.
